The 2017 Georgetown GLOW invited visitors to re-imagine the season of light through outdoor public art. This 4th edition of GLOW ran from Friday, December 8 through Sunday, January 7, with works lit from 5 – 10 p.m. nightly. Georgetown GLOW is presented by the Georgetown Business Improvement District.
The installations for the 2017 edition of Georgetown GLOW exuded a vivid brightness both in aesthetics and content. From chromatic rings to interactive landscapes, the works were truly beautiful whilst being contemplative. As with previous iterations of GLOW, we asked the viewer to interact, connect, and play with the artwork in thoughtful ways. In 2017, we also asked viewers to think about the meaning behind the works and how they were able to temporarily transform their surroundings. We hoped that GLOW 2017 brought a renewed light to all during the holiday season.
Thank you to the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities for awarding the Georgetown BID with a Public Art Building Communities Grant for Georgetown GLOW 2017.
